If you have a website for your business, you probably how important it is to have as much traffic as possible.  A high google ranking helps you achieve this by getting more clicks on your website.  One of the most important things, is that you have your keywords that you would like to rank for, prominent in your website content.  Aside from that, you can also improve your rank on Google by making sure you do the following:

  • Fix any technical SEO issues on your site: The presence of technical issues on your site can greatly influence your Google ranking.  Most of the most common issues are typically simple fixes, and there are a variety of tools one can use to locate technical SEO site issues in your site.  For example, you can use our free audit tool that goes through your website and identifies the technical problems in relation to SEO.  You can use that tool by clicking HERE.
  • Find and eliminate Outdated or zombie pages;  Google does not want you to publish just for the sake of volume or the size of your site, but they prefer you to publish fewer, but high quality pages.  As the saying goes; “Quality over Quantity”.  Zombie pages can be for example pages with duplicate content, old press releases, or old search results pages, or pages that no longer have any value. These are also called “dead URL’s.  Google hates these, and it appears that your page is not maintained, and therefore not an authority.
  • On-page SEO optimization; You should also individually optimize the actual pages on your website.  A great example of this is using LSI keywords, which are terms that are closely related to your keyword. When you use these terms as the title of your page, or at the beginning of your pages, you will get a rankings boost for those keywords.  Be careful though, don’t stuff the keyword too many times on one page.  This will get you a penalty from Google, and can hurt your rankings.

If your website visitors are waiting more than three seconds for your page to load, you are losing up to 40% of your site visitors."

  • Optimize title and description tag for click-through rate (CTR)  CTR  is a huge ranking factor in that; the more people searching for a keyword that click on your result, the more Google acknowledges your link as the best result.  This means that in your Meta Title and Meta Description, make sure you use keywords and phrasing that is going to result in a higher link click rate.  For example:  If you are a plumber, it would be best to use terms like “Emergency Plumbing, City Name, Top Rated”, as opposed to “Plumber, Plumbing, looking for plumber”.
  • Optimize the dwell time of your website; Dwell time is simply the amount of time one spends on your website.  The other side of this is the bounce rate.  The longer the dwell time, the lower the bounce rate.  Dwell time can be increased by; making your introductions more catchy and sticky so as to glue the reader.   Also, make the page more appealing to the readers eye.  This will definitely increase the dwell time.  The best thing to decrease the bounce rate, is engaging content.  If your page offers information, make it readily available, easily and clearly.  If you offer a service, make contacting the company the most apparent option on the page.  Also, bounce rate skyrockets if your page doesn’t load quickly, which brings me to my next point.
  • Improve the page loading speed; If your website visitors are waiting more than three seconds for your page to load, you are losing up to 40% of your site visitors. You should therefore improve the loading speed of your page.  This can be done by a variety of ways, including the minimization of additional html and javascripts that you have on the page.  It can also help to decrease the size of the images on your website.  Most folks use high definition images on their site, which looks great.  The problem is, that those HD images can take some time to load, and loading speed is HUGE when it comes to your Google ranking.  There are free tools that you can use to analyze the speed of your website, including one of the best by Google.

If you employ these steps you absolutely are going to improve your Google rankings and therefore, increase your website traffic!  If you have any questions about any of these steps, or would just like some additional information on how to get your website generating business for you everyday, just reach out by phone, or Contact Us by clicking HERE.
